Mark Bernazzani, CFP®, CPA
Personal CFO
I earned my B.S. in Accounting in 1999 and my MBA from New York University in 2009. I’ve been providing investment, tax and financial advice to individuals and companies for 20+ years.
I started my career as a tax CPA where I gained experience and expertise in individual income taxation. I saw so many missed opportunities early in my career as individuals would make decisions in a vacuum and not consider how an investment or tax decision would impact other areas of their finances. My passion for working with clients and seeing these missed opportunities led me to expanded my knowledge of investments and financial advice by becoming a CFP® and getting my MBA. I worked for a number of years on Wall Street as an investment banker helping companies pursue global M&A opportunities and raise capital in the debt and equity markets.
After 7 years in New York I returned to the west coast to start, manage and grow the Portland practice of a $5 billion dollar RIA firm. After seeing substantial growth in the practice and marketplace I became disappointed with the layers of bureaucracy, increasing limitations placed on providing holistic advice to clients and high fees.
All of my years of experience has informed my belief that a holistic approach with a fiduciary duty is the most important and personally fulfilling way to work with clients. It was this desire to be a true fiduciary to clients and be able to advise them on all aspects of their balance sheet and income statement that led me to start My Personal CFO.
Outside of work I enjoy spending my time with family and friends and trying my best to keep up with two active young boys. I’m an avid tennis player and enjoy a casual round of golf. I used to enjoy running and basketball but my body tells me I’m no longer allowed to do those activities. My time living in New York increased my appreciation for the outdoors and I try to take advantage of getting outside at every opportunity.
Enough about me…my passions really lie in talking to and learning more about others!
